Work is where people socialize, challenge themselves, gain leadership skill, get alone time, learn to work with others, make accomplishments, get job satisfaction or more, all of which do make it important to do the job they love, find one that is a good fit for their interests, aptitudes, work-related values and personality type. If people look closer, they may discover a range of skills and experiences that come with the passing of time on the job. In this case, they are more likely to prosper in their work as they enjoy the majority of the job duties.

However, in the case of job hunting, they cannot afford to ignore certain realistic factors. In fact, job is a means to an end; a person works just enough to support other hobbies, interests, and family relationships in their lives. In addition, the ability to pursue careers may also hinge on the financial situation as some career paths require special schooling and qualifications and this is sometimes expensive. Secondly, before a job decision is made, a realistic job preview, which will look into the positive and negative aspects of a job to give an applicant an insight into what to expect. This helps reduce employee turnover, and they will be less likely to experience disappointment or confusion.

In conclusion, for some, work forms their identity and reason for being. Ideally, personal preference and work fit blissfully together. Yet in the real world, most of the people fall somewhere in between. Work is about a search for daily meaning as well as daily bread, for recognition as well as cash.
